What are the different worlds?

Meadow — Morning light, long grass, and a bird with somewhere to be. Deep — Heavy water. Everything moves slower down here, including you. Orbit — Thin gravity, fast rock. The twitchiest of the five. Hive — Warm amber and a very short attention span. Hollow — A cold blue cave and something that does not need to breathe.

Do the worlds actually play differently, or is it just a new coat of paint?

They play differently. Each world has its own gravity, flap strength and scroll speed, so Deep is heavy and floaty while Orbit is thin-gravity and twitchy. A theme that only changed the colours would be a menu of the same game.

Which world is easiest?

Deep. Water means weaker gravity and a slower scroll, which gives you noticeably more time to correct a mistake. Hollow and Hive are the hardest — the gap tightens faster there.

Does the gap get smaller?

Yes, with every point, down to a floor. It stops tightening rather than closing forever, because a gap that keeps narrowing produces a game that ends at the same score for everybody — that is a timer, not difficulty.

Why did I die when I looked like I was through?

The collision box is the drawn shape, not a generous circle around it, and the obstacle lips stick out slightly wider than the columns. The lip is the part that catches people.

Is the game harder on some screens?

No, and that took deliberate work. The physics run at a fixed 120 steps a second regardless of your display, and the leftover time is carried to the next frame. Games that step by the frame time are genuinely easier on a 144 Hz monitor, because gravity adds up differently.

What happens if I switch tabs mid-run?

Nothing. The clock is capped, so returning to the tab costs you a stutter rather than several seconds of physics run at once while you were not looking.

Is the course random?

It is generated from a number, so the same number always produces the same course. That is why a run can be replayed exactly — the game records what you pressed and when, and folding that back over the physics reproduces the run.

Space, the up arrow, or W. The whole play area is also a button, so on a phone anywhere on the screen works and you do not have to aim for a control.

In your browser, separately for each world, because they are different games. Clearing your site data clears it. Nothing is sent to a server — there are no accounts here.

No. Without accounts there is no honest way to run one: anything the browser reports can be edited by whoever is running the browser. If that changes it will be built properly rather than as a number anyone can type.

What is a good score?

Ten is a real run. Twenty means you have found the rhythm. Past thirty the gap is at its minimum and it is pure consistency. Most people bounce off zero to three for the first minute, which is normal — the timing is the whole skill.

Any technique?

Tap small and often rather than in bursts. New players hold or hammer, which sends the flight into a sawtooth that is impossible to aim. Steady taps let you hold a shallow line, and a shallow line is what fits through a narrow gap.

Should I aim at the middle of the gap?

Aim slightly below the middle. You are always falling, so arriving a little low with upward speed is safer than arriving high and dropping through.

No. The gap stops narrowing but the obstacles keep coming, so the run ends when you make a mistake. That is the genre.

The interface does. The game itself cannot — it is a game about a moving object — but the flashes and the screen shake are kept proportionate rather than used as a substitute for feedback.

Why is a card game site hosting an arcade game?

Because the engine work generalises. This site is built on the idea that a game is a small pure core plus a renderer, and the interesting test of that idea was whether a real-time game could be written the same way as a turn-based one. It can: time is just another move, and a run is a list of them.

What is it built with?

Plain TypeScript for the physics and a canvas for the picture, with no game framework. The physics module does not know a browser exists, which is what lets the difficulty of each world be measured automatically rather than guessed at by playtesting.
