How do you play European Roulette?

Put chips anywhere on the layout, press Spin, and the ball decides. You can bet a single number at 35 to 1, a group of two, three, four or six, or one of the outside bets — red or black, odd or even, high or low, a dozen or a column. Bets that cover more numbers pay less; every one of them carries the same house edge except one, which is flagged below.

35 to 1. Put one chip on 17, and if the ball lands there you get 36 back — your chip and 35 more. The general rule is that a bet covering k numbers pays 36/k − 1, which gives 17 to 1 on a split, 11 to 1 on a street, 8 to 1 on a corner, 5 to 1 on a six line, 2 to 1 on a dozen and 1 to 1 on red.

Can I bet on splits, corners and streets here?

Yes — the entire layout is live, not just the numbers. Click the line between two numbers for a split, the point where four meet for a corner, the rail below a column of three for a street, and the point between two of those for a six line. That sounds obvious and it is the single most common thing missing from free roulette games; a table that only takes single numbers is not really roulette.

Is the wheel rigged? Does it know what I bet?

It cannot. Every spin of a session comes from a deal number shown in the "Is this rigged?" panel, and the whole sequence is fixed before you place a chip — the same number always produces the same pockets in the same order on any device. The panel shows you the next five spins in advance so you can check. There is also nothing to gain: no accounts, nothing sold, chips that cost nothing.

Does the wheel remember the last spins?

No, and this is the one thing worth being blunt about. Each spin is independent. Red coming up eight times in a row does not make black any more likely, and a number that has not appeared in 200 spins is not "due". We show the history strip and hot and cold numbers because people want them, not because they predict anything.

What happens when the ball lands in zero?

Every outside bet loses — red, black, odd, even, high, low, the dozens and the columns.  Only chips on or touching the zero pay. Zero is not an even number for betting purposes, whatever arithmetic says.

All four, plus neighbours. Neighbours of zero (Voisins du Zéro) covers 17 numbers with 9 chips; Third of the wheel (Tiers du Cylindre) covers 12 numbers with 6 chips; Orphans (Orphelins) covers 8 numbers with 5 chips; Zero game (Jeu Zéro) covers 7 numbers with 4 chips. They are placed as bundles of ordinary bets, so they pay ordinary odds — what is different is the shape.

What is a neighbours bet?

A straight-up bet on a number and the pockets either side of it *on the wheel*, not on the layout. 34 and its two neighbours means 25, 17, 34, 6 and 27 — numbers that are nowhere near each other on the felt. Choose the number and the spread in the Called bets panel.

What is the difference between European and American roulette?

One pocket. The American wheel adds a 00, which takes it from 37 pockets to 38 while paying exactly the same odds — so the house edge goes from 2.70% to 5.26%, nearly double, for a game that looks and plays identically. If you have a choice, and here you do, take the single zero.

What is La Partage?

A French rule: when the ball lands in zero, you lose only half of an even-money bet instead of all of it. That exactly halves the house edge on red, black, odd, even, high and low, from 2.70% to 1.35% — the best odds available anywhere in roulette. Our French table has it.

Is En Prison the same as La Partage?

No, and almost every source says they are both 1.35%. They are not. La Partage returns half your stake immediately, for exactly 1.3514%. En Prison holds the whole stake and rides it on the next spin, where it can only win its own money back — never a profit — and can lose again. That works out at 19/1369, or 1.3879%. La Partage is strictly the better rule, by about 0.04 points.

Which roulette bet has the best odds?

All of them, equally, at 2.70%. That is the honest answer and it surprises people: a straight up and a red bet cost you the same per chip in the long run. They differ enormously in variance — one wins about half the time for a small amount, the other rarely for a lot — but not in price.

Do betting systems like the Martingale work?

Accepted Answer

No. Doubling after a loss wins small amounts often and loses everything occasionally, and the two exactly cancel — the house edge is per spin and no ordering of bets changes it. What a Martingale really buys is a change in the *shape* of your results, not their average. The table limit is what stops it, and there is one here for exactly that reason.

What are the table limits?

Minimum 1 chip, maximum 500 on an outside bet. Inside bets are capped by what they pay rather than by the stake — a straight up tops out at 142 chips, because the table's real limit is on the payout, not the bet. That is how a real table works, and it is why you cannot put the maximum on one number.

Yes. Repeat puts the whole previous layout back down, Double doubles everything on the table, Undo lifts the last chip and Clear takes them all off. There are keyboard shortcuts for all four: R, D, U and C, with space to spin.

Yes — Normal, Fast or Turbo in the bar above the table. Nobody has ever complained that a roulette wheel spun too fast; the complaints are all the other way, so the default is already brisk and Turbo is close to instant.

A zig-zag of twelve red numbers — 1, 5, 9, 12, 14, 16, 19, 23, 27, 30, 32, 34 — paid like a dozen at 2 to 1. It is not on every layout, but it is on this one.
