Why will it not let me move my run of cards?

Because you do not have enough free cells for it. The limit is (free cells + 1) × 2^(empty columns) — with two cells full and no empty column you can only move three cards at once. The board shows the current number live in the bottom bar.

Is every FreeCell deal winnable?

Almost — about 99% of FreeCell deals are solvable. Of the classic 32,000 numbered deals, exactly one, game #11982, is known to be impossible. In practice, assume the win is there.

Can I put more than one card in a free cell?

No. Each cell holds exactly one card. That is what makes them scarce, and what makes the move-capacity rule bite.

What goes in an empty column?

Anything, in standard FreeCell. Some variants restrict it to Kings, which makes the game dramatically harder.

How is this different from Klondike?

No stock, no face-down cards, and no luck. Everything is visible from the first frame, so the whole game is a puzzle rather than a gamble.

How long does a game take?

About 12 minutes, though it varies more than most: the thinking is front-loaded.
