How does a turn work on a real grid?
A turn in easy Sudoku is a small check, not a leap. Pick an empty cell or a nearly finished group, then ask what the rules still allow. The cleanest move is one where every other digit has been ruled out by the row, column or box.
- Cell-first scan: choose an empty cell. Look across its row, down its column and inside its 3×3 box. Cross off any digit already present in those places. If only one digit remains, that is the move.
- Digit-first scan: choose a digit, such as 6, and look at one 3×3 box. Rows and columns containing 6 can block positions inside that box. If only one cell in the box can take 6, place it there.
- Group completion: inspect a row, column or box with many filled cells. If it is missing only one digit, the empty cell must take that digit.
